CREWS HILL

AWAY

10:30 K.O.

Barnet Sunday League Senior Cup, Second Round

Referee:  Xander Harrison

Venue:  ENFIELD PLAYING FIELDS, Ladysmith Road, Enfield EN1 3AJ (Pitch 8)

STREET VIEW (Entrance)

  • Directions for car parking & meeting: Pitch 8 is right next to Pitch 9, the pitch that we played on three times in Pre-Season. For Pitch 8 (unlike Pitch 9), we are supposed to be using the changing rooms at the Donkey Lane end, but as that is too far away from the pitch, our opponents park in the Ladysmith Road car park and use the Central Pavilion changing rooms instead, so we will do likewise...the same as we did for our Pre-Season Friendlies and the Enfield United match that we played on Pitch 10.
To find the Ladysmith Road car park, if you are coming down Southbury Road from the A10 in Enfield towards Enfield Town centre, Ladysmith Road is a sharp turning here on the right opposite a piano shop and music school and just before you get to the lights for Tescos (Willow Road). Go straight down Ladysmith Road and look for house number 93 on the right. The drive-in entrance to the car park is here next to that house.
If that car park is locked when you get there, you will have to turn back round and then do a left into Sketty Road. Go right down to the end of Sketty Road and drive in here into the small car park on the right (if there is room). Alternatively you can park in the Southbury Leisure Centre car park and walk round the back of the centre to the Playing Fields.
CLICK HERE to download and view a PDF pitch map of Enfield Playing Fields. (We are on FP08).
Please note that this match is a 10.30.a.m. Kick-Off and
we want all players aiming to arrive at the venue by 9.15.a.m. so that we have at least an hour for preparation.
  • The squad will be announced in our players’ WhatsApp Group on the Friday before the match.
  • Players will be charged £7.00 each for playing in this match, with reduced amounts for anybody playing 60 minutes or less.
  • The League Senior Cup this season is for all teams in the League. (It should be the CHALLENGE Cup for all teams in the League, with the Senior Cup being just for the Premier Division and Division One, but somebody on the League Management Committee seems to have some rather strange ideas !).  PLEASE NOTE THAT IN LEAGUE CUP FIXTURES, IF THE SCORES ARE LEVEL AT THE END OF 90 MINUTES, THE MATCH GOES STRAIGHT TO PENALTIES WITHOUT EXTRA-TIME BEING PLAYED.
  • CREWS HILL are a new team to the League this season in Division Two, but they have not had a great start, suffering four defeats already with three of them being heavy ones, although they do have four points on the board from two matches against another new team, AFC Rose. They appear to have some players in their squad who played against us for Calcio in our Division Two title-winning season, but we know little about them apart from that.

HORNSEY & HIGHGATE

HOME

10:30 K.O.

Barnet Sunday League Division One Match

Referee:  TBA

Venue:  EDMONTON SPORTS & SOCIAL CLUB, Church Street, Edmonton, London N9 9HL (Pitch Two)

STREET VIEW (Entrance)

  • Directions: For the benefit of our opponents, Referees and any new players who have just joined us, the Edmonton Sports & Social Club is better-known locally as either ‘Edmonton Cricket Club’ or ‘Norsemen Football Club’. (Norsemen play in the Southern Amateur League on Saturdays). The club is a 15-20 minute walk straight down Church Street from Edmonton Green Station, passing under the railway bridge, or you can get a W8 bus from there. The club is right on the corner of the Church Street/A10 junction and here is what the entrance looks like. Buses 231 and 217 run along the A10 between Turnpike Lane Underground Station and Enfield and they stop right outside the ground.
CLICK HERE to view a PDF Map of the ground.
  • HORNSEY & HIGHGATE were our ‘jinx’ team in Division One last season as they firstly put an end to a 19-month unbeaten run in League matches for us when they beat us 3-1 in our Home game, then on the final day of last season they beat us 2-0 at Highgate Woods despite turning up with only 10 men. CLICK HERE for the highlights of that first match. CLICK HERE for the highlights of that last game of the season. Hornsey & Highgate finished above us in the table last season, but they have since had a mass walk-out of players and they temporarily folded during the Summer. They have since decided to re-group under new Management, but they have failed to win in their first three League matches, although they were leading 3-2 in a match against Edmonton Blades that had to be abandoned due to an injury and they also won 4-3 against Brotherhood in a League Cup match in their last game. On current form we are much better than we were last season though, so hopefully that will be good enough to overcome our opponents this time.

AFC MORTLAKE

HOME

10:30 K.O.

London FA Sunday Junior Cup, Second Round

Referee:  Kuba Bogucki

Venue:  MARBLE HILL PARK, Montpelier Row, Twickenham TW1 2NQ

STREET VIEW (Entrance)

  • Directions (from our Home Ground): Exact directions to this venue and where to park will be confirmed at least a week before this match takes place. Marble Hill Park is AFC Mortlake’s normal Home ground, but they played their First Round match at Wimbledon Common for some reason.
Please note that this match will be a 10.30.a.m.
  • PLEASE NOTE THAT IF THE SCORES ARE LEVEL AT THE END OF 90 MINUTES, EXTRA-TIME WILL BE PLAYED FOLLOWED BY PENALTIES IF NECESSARY.
  • AFC MORTLAKE play in Division Four of the very strong seven-division Southern Sunday League in South London. Although Division Four is actually the second-from-bottom division, AFC Mortlake have actually won five of their six matches played so far this season and are a good side according to CCB, a mid-table team from Division Three of our League who lost 2-1 to them in the First Round. As we will be having to wear our uncomfortable old orange Away kit for this match (as AFC Mortlake wear green) and some of our players may not be able to travel that far due to family commitments, this is clearly going to be a tough game for us. However, we have travelled well in London Cup matches in the past and should have a chance of progressing if we can field a similar squad to the one we put out against Italia Wasteels in the First Round.
