The A.G.M. for
Season 2007-2008 was held at The Beehive Pub in Little Bury Street,
Edmonton N9 on
Sunday 10th August.
Because
several players informed me that they would not be getting there until
the evening, myself & Trevor decided to go along at 6.00.p.m. rather
than enjoy the barbecue, chat to the WAGS about non-football related
matters and play with the kids. (Careful how you interpret that please,
Junior !)
Stuart phoned me at about 4.00.p.m. to ask when we would be arriving and
it sounded like a madhouse there with about 50 people in attendance
(including 25 kids ?). When they saw us getting out of the car, the
WAGS, kids, 3 or 4 ex-players plus Del and Wooly immediately scarpered,
leaving just Stuart, Steve Cokell, Darryl, Terry, Ritchie, Junior & Mark
Howley there !
Mark & Junior then both left fairly quickly as well, and with the
barbecue all having been eaten (even without the likes of Tarby,
Oz & Tem in attendance !) and frequent heavy showers outside, we decided
to go indoors and have the meeting, with Rob Brown turning up to join us
at about 7.00.p.m. just after we had started, and Derek Dorward also
returning after taking his family home from the afternoon session first.
Barney turned up at about 9.00.p.m. after cricket, but nobody else
bothered at all.
Some gave excuses but a lot didn't. I expect that several players were
almost certainly put off by both the foul weather and my rants on the
Forum.
However, because there were only 10 of us there, we were all able to sit
round one table and have a really good discussion, and believe it or
not, I am feeling a lot more positive about the season ahead after some
of the things we talked about.
One of the subjects was the 'them and us' situation we have at the club
at the moment in terms of socialising. None of the youngsters were at
the A.G.M. It was just the 'old guard' (i.e. Players aged around 30 or
more).
We recognise that it is just not part of the youngsters' culture to go
in 'Old Mens' Pubs like the Beehive, but as long as both sets of players
attend training and get on well in the changing rooms/at matches, then
we shouldn't have a problem.
Because of this, I am NOT going to have a rant regarding the poor
turnout for the A.G.M.
As for the
Trophy Presentations, the only one we were able to present was a 300
Matches Shield to Derek Dorward.
None of the other trophy winners were in attendance, but for the record
they were as follows:
The full list of Award Winners for Season 2007-2008 were as follows:

These

the winning player plays in.
We didn't show
the Goal Of The Season DVD because it was raining outside where the TV &
DVD player had been set up, and also because we would have only made
about £8.00 for the club on votes.
Trevor plans
to ask players to vote by watching the clips on the website then adding
£2.00 onto their subs.
Thanks to all players who attended.
