ANNUAL
GENERAL MEETING (A.G.M.) FOR SEASON 2008-2009 |
The A.G.M. for
Season 2008-2009 was held in 'The Snooker Room'
on
Saturday 25th July.
As usual, most
players had 'better things to do' and there were only 10 club members
there including Laurence & Trevor Hughes. The others were
Stuart Dorward, Alan Barnard, Martin Loveday,
Tim Beeden, Jim Arrowsmith, Danny Green, Scott
Jenkins & Daniel Daley. Well done to all of those for making
an effort.
Unfortunately, Alan Barnard was the only award winner in attendance, so
the others will just have to be given theirs on the touchline after
matches.
Jamie Martin's goal 8 seconds after the Second Half kick-off in our 4-3
defeat to Enfield Royals was our Goal Of The Season (in my opinion),
although nobody else agreed ! The nearest vote to my 1,2,3 was from Tim
Beeden, who won himself a tenner.
Tony King's free-kick Away to White Hart was my 2nd choice and Terry
Brown's free-kick in the same match was my 3rd choice. For some reason
though, everybody thought Tony's free-kick was crap and Terry's was much
better !
The
Goal Of The Season page will be updated shortly so that those who
were not in attendance at the A.G.M. can see for themselves !
Regarding the
Management Committee for Season 2009-2010, it was agreed that Gary
Cokell should be approached to see if his work situation has changed
enough for him to be Assistant Manager (and also to sign up as a player
again so that he can play in emergencies (e.g. when numerous players
drop out at the last minute). Concern was expressed about him
disagreeing with Trevor's tactics...which he has done in the past, but
Gary has assured us that he will be more of a motivator and I am glad to
say that he has accepted the role. It has been obvious for some time
that we need somebody assisting Trevor on the touchline who is going to
shout and encourage players. I can therefore continue to video the
matches without having to worry about being an Assistant Manager myself
!
In the absence of last season's Players' Representative Terry Moore at
the meeting, Martin Loveday was unanimously voted in as Players
Rep for Season 2009-2010 with the 'mandate' to organise fund-raising and
social events for the club. This is often an impossible job, so good
luck to him !
